Sweet Lady Jane Weddings: 2017 Year in Review!!

Well, here we are…another year gone by and another chance to reflect on all the little details and moments that make my job such a joy. My annual “favorites” blog has become somewhat of a diary entry if you will, (2016 can be viewed here) and this year will be no exception. I have been thinking a lot about success and failure lately. Growing up, my parents had this poster hung up on a wall in our house. The top was titled “PS, I Love You” followed by a bunch of musings and nice sayings about life, love, and happiness. My siblings and I used to joke around about it, teasing my mom (per usual) for choosing this piece of art. I came across this poster recently, hidden in a corner at my parents house. Instead of looking at the lines and laughing, I realize how true so many of these little tid bits are (my Instagram description for one!). Another that has stuck in my head is “No failure is ever final, nor is any success.” The older I get, the more these words ring true. As of today, I feel like what was once just an idea has turned into something that I never could’ve imagined. I feel like many of my goals have been reached sooner than anticipated. I feel like my amazing clients are the perfect mix of cool and kind, stylish and laid back, and effortlessly happy and in love. More than anything, I feel like I need to pinch myself. This obviously did not happen overnight and anyone who knows me knows how much passion has gone into Sweet Lady Jane Photography. Blood, sweat, and tears to ensure a life that includes time spent with my children and time spent doing what I love the most…capturing and creating love stories. But a part of me just can’t help but feel very very lucky. As I move into my fifth year in business, I know that success is not a given. Success is something that needs to stoked like the flames of a fire. And one thing is for sure…I do not and will not take one second for granted. 2017 was such a beautiful year. It’s so hard to put into words just how grateful I am for each and every couple who invited me in to witness such an important day. But I am. So grateful. To all my 2017 couples: thank you from the bottom of my heart. To my 2018 couples: get ready!! We are going to have so much fun and I can’t wait!

Tyler & Natalie: Married!

Natalie and Tyler’s wedding was the perfect way to end my 2017 wedding season. I absolutely loved everything about their beautiful fall day…from the color scheme to the meaningful church ceremony and on to a casual but upscale reception at Central Bistro in the heart of downtown Boston. I also loved how Natalie and Tyler built in a large amount of time for formal pictures, and scouted out the perfect location to achieve what they had in mind (heading over to the Underground at Ink Block was a highlight..the huge love mural was such an awesome backdrop!). But perhaps what struck me the most about their day was just how perfect Natalie and Tyler are together. There was no stress, no fuss but instead the most joyous celebration of relationship that seems like it was destined to happen. Congrats to Natalie & Tyler and here’s to lots and lots of days just like the one I had the honor of photographing!!

Jesús & Emily: Engaged!

I just loved photographing Emily and Jesús’ engagement session. Emily is the sister of one of my brides from this past summer. Although we spent lots of time together on the big day, we never had the chance to properly chat. This all changed as we explored the beautiful grounds of Tufts University on a sunny fall morning. One of the things I love most about photographing couples is hearing the story behind how they met. Tufts plays an important role in the relationship of these two, as it was the spot where they met years back. We had the chance to talk all about their fate-filled introduction as well as all their plans for a Spring wedding in Salem. Emily and Jesús were so fun to be around and about as easy going as it gets. I can’t wait for April!

Benson Park Fall Family Session!

It’s been a while since I have blogged a family session. But this particular one is very special. Brienne and Chris have been with me since the beginning, when they took a leap of faith and hired me as their wedding photographer. They were so much fun to work with as we explored Wells Maine for their engagement session. Next came their wedding day, which was a heartfelt celebration full of happiness. I was thrilled to hear from Brienne when little Miss C came into the world exactly one year ago. There is just something so amazing about seeing a couple become parents…especially when that couple is Brienne and Chris. These two are doing a fabulous job already. We had the opportunity to meet up right before the first birthday of their sweet little girl. Miss C is so happy, so curious, and just a joy to be around. I am honored to watch this family grow, and can’t wait to see what the future has in store!
