You might remember from my 2015 year end blog post that this little corner of my world hardly ever delves into anything personal. But once again, today feels like the perfect time to reflect on another year gone by. Exactly seven years ago today, I married my best friend. On a brilliantly sunny winter day in Hingham, we exchanged promises for a lifetime of love and commitment. Like most couples, we would discuss our dreams. Dreams to buy a cute little house in a cute little neighborhood and make it a home. To have children and raise them to be kind and tolerant in a world where this sometimes seems impossible. To watch Boston College win a National Championship (so far, two out of three isn’t so bad!). The list goes on and on. One dream that wasn’t even remotely on the table back then is one aspect of my life today that I can’t imagine living without. Sweet Lady Jane Photography. Somehow…somewhere along the way we decided to go for it. To make a dream a reality and build this business from the ground up. Three wedding seasons later, I continue to be humbled by the brides and grooms who choose me. Each week I witness the sacrament, the ritual, the beautiful moments and details that make each wedding celebration unique, and I am energized by all of it. And much like my marriage, I feel like we’re just getting started. 2016 was an unforgettable year. My heart is full of gratitude for the faces and places that made this season truly exceptional, and my mind is full of inspiration for the weddings that lie ahead. Thank you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to the twenty brides and grooms for trusting me, to my family and friends for supporting me, and to my husband who has stood by me from day one, making this dream a reality.

I had the pleasure of capturing Robby and Marya’s wedding day in early October. About a week before, we set out to capture some engagement pictures along the coast of New Hampshire. In all the hustle and bustle of my fall weddings, I never had the time to properly blog this session…until now! These two are truly so fun to be around and I loved each minute of photographing their story. Looking forward to seeing what the future holds for Marya and Robby…no doubt this includes many happy anniversaries to come!

Casey and Terry are brave souls. We met up on a very chilly afternoon at Halibut Point in Rockport, and these two bared the cold, smiling the whole time. The North Shore means something to Casey and Terry, and is about to mean so much more next September. They will be celebrating their wedding day in a beautiful backyard wedding on the rocky shores of Gloucester. Each detail is being carefully crafted, and is sure to be a fabulous day. I can’t wait to see all of Casey’s hard work come together!

There are so many aspects of Tim and Samantha’s day that I love. But what stands out the most is just that…the love. When their October day finally arrived, the rain decided to appear as well. For the first time all season, torrential downpours hung around from start to finish. This might put a damper on things for certain couples. But not Tim and Samantha. Nothing was going to ruin this celebration that was destined to happen from the moment these two met as camp counselors in High School. The cold rain outside only made the experience more warm and intimate inside the St. John’s Prep chapel. We braved the rain for formal pictures at the Smith Barn (thank goodness for covered porches!) with Tim and Samantha never complaining once. Tim and Samantha are the kind of couple that everyone wants to be around. They are kind, humble, hardworking people who care so much about friends, family, and making each other happy. This was the perfect way to end my wedding season, and I am so honored to share their story. Tim and Samantha, I wish you a lifetime of happiness!
