John & Heather: Engaged!

I have been seriously waiting to write this post since the moment Heather began doing my hair back in 2010. Maybe this is a slight exaggeration, but somewhere along the line Heather started mentioning John in casual conversation. Over time, I could tell how happy Heather was…her eyes would light up and I just knew she had something special. We used to joke that one day I would walk in and see something super shiny on a certain finger…until this summer, when our talk turned to reality with news that John pulled off a big surprise birthday engagement! The proposal was just perfect, and included a sunrise walk to the top of Ward Hill. John got down on one knee at the sun dial created by Heather’s grandfather decades ago. Planning an engagement session was a no-brainer, as we decided to meet up back at the spot that means so much. I cannot wait for Heather and John’s wedding next summer and feel beyond honored to take part in this amazing celebration. Congrats you two!!

Robby & Marya: Married!

Robby and Marya met at work years ago and quickly developed a life together. When the time came to propose, Robby knew the one and only spot to ask the big question. Everyone in Marya’s life knows that she goes to the same place on Rye beach each and every summer. So, it was here, near a big statue of driftwood, where these two decided to spend forever together. Plans for a “scientist and mermaid” themed wedding quickly came together, with the fabulous Dunlovely Designs creating each amazing detail. Robby and Marya are such a well matched couple. They are equally warm, funny, smart, and interesting people who truly care for each other and those around them (dogs included!). Each part of their wedding day spoke to this, from the location to the personal cards atop each place setting. What a joy this day was to photograph. Although narrowing down the top pictures to share was almost impossible, I have put together some favorites from the day. Marya and Robby…enjoy this (somewhat large) sneak peek! Can’t wait to show you everything!

Adam & Sasha: Married!

One of the decisions Adam and Sasha made when planning their wedding was to write handwritten vows to read during the ceremony. As they faced eachother, Adam mentioned the idea of not striving for perfection but rather for all the values that make a marriage whole. This thought can be viewed as the cornerstone of Adam and Sasha’s fall day by the sea. As rain continued to fall, these two made one last minute decision to go with their hearts and have the ceremony outside. Nothing could dampen the spirits of a couple who have waited so long to become husband and wife. In my mind, this attitude will carry Adam and Sasha through life, learning to laugh when things don’t seem to fall perfectly into place. This wedding was truly something special. The details, the backdrop, the family and friends who came together at the beautiful Misslewood Estate to celebrate. Adam and Sasha, wishing you a lifetime of love!
